Sources indicate Munich or Tölz in Moravia as Leopold's birthplace. The baptismal
registers of Munich-Bogenhausen record the births of several of Leopold's siblings
(though a few years later than his estimated birth year). These entries note that
his father came from Tölz. Which place in Moravia this refers to in the 18th century
remains unclear. The obvious association with Teltsch (now Telč) is ruled out because
the name Milchram (or similar) does not appear in the church records of that town.
He therefore appears to have been born in the as-yet-unidentified place in Moravia;
his father moved to Munich, where he worked as a printer. After his years of travel,
his son Leopold settled in Graz around 1775.
